Learning to Tell Better Stories for the Screen

A Personal Note on the Personal Services:

Private Sessions are the most effective use of time, but they're expensive, so students have to decide for themselves whether they're the best use of money. Even beyond the costs, I think the camaraderie involved in the workshops is valuable, as well as the indirect learning from other writers' dilemmas and challenges. Feel free to email me (info@storyandplot.com) if you have any questions.

Script Analysis is the least recommended but the most widely available. There are far too many unqualified people offering this service for indefensible rates and I actually hesitate to include it. Ultimately, there is a demand for it, and I'd rather do it myself than someone less qualified. There is rarely anything covered in an Analysis that isn't eventually covered in a class, but the classes are simply not as available as they once were.

I am a teacher. I am not a critic, a script analysts or a production company reader. My job is to make you a better writer and storyteller. The most important thing for the inexperienced writer is to gain the confidence that ultimately gives rise to their own voice. Because I am not longer available for classes like before, I am lowering the Analysis price to discourage it a bit less, while still keeping it high enough that those who dive in are quite sure they want to do.
